Things you can’t do without
I thought we’d get started with the new site as we mean to go along…. so straight down to business:
Great software arrives with your Mac straight out of the box. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a heap of software out there for us. I’ve mentioned these in the past with the likes of Carbon Copy Cloner and others, but I was thinking today about what I couldn’t do without on my Mac. The list is actually quite long. Thus, I will over the next few months revisit these great programs again and again in the hopes that you will discover some great “must have” programs.
Movies and so much more…..
One program that I have used for years, (even before I became a true-blue Mac lover) is VLC. Macs come with Quicktime, but the biggest problem with Quicktime is how many movies don’t work with it. With all the different video formats floating around out there on the internet, it’s no wonder that I am constantly opening videos to find a message telling me Quicktime “cannot play” such and such movie. In steps VLC, and superbly small, yet brilliant program that plays almost everything that you can throw at it. In terms of programs you must have, this is the very first thing I download on a new Mac or a Mac that I have just repaired. Enough said.
