iPhone auto-correct
Time to go Mobile
Since starting Macstarter earlier this year, one question I am asked a lot is “When are you going to start iPhone tutorials?”. It’s tempting to assume that all Mac owners actually own an iPhone, but that’s not the reason I shy away from iPhone related articles. It simply is the fact that it’s hard to tutorialise a quarter of a million apps, which the iPhone has!
But I will share one tip with the readers of Macstarter, as it saves me quite a bit of time, and gives me smarmy satisfaction as well…..
When I’m typing text or emails on my iPhone, one of the things that impresses me (and I may be in the minority here) is the fact that my words are auto-corrected. But one of the most annoying features of this auto-correct is that certain words are constantly auto-wronged. Take the sentence:
“we’re at the bus stop”
You would type w-e-r-e on your phone, and it would look like “were”. If like me, you’re a stickler for grammar, it’s unnaceptable to send this text with such an obvious faux pas. So what do you do?
Simple: You type “w-r” press on the symbol button, locate the apostrophe, click on the symbol button again, and continue with the “r-e”. Not very Apple like, pressing all those keys is it? So here’s an easier solution:
If you need to type the word “we’re”, simply type “w-e-r-e-e”. That’s right, two e’s at the end. You’re phone will auto correct it. It will with most apostrophe words, such as “we’ll”. Now that’s very Apple….
